Changes in Trademark Application Process 2025
As we approach 2025, trademark applicants must prepare for major changes in the trademark filing process. The USPTO is retiring the TEAS initial application forms, transitioning entirely to the Trademark Center for all trademark filings. Here’s everything you need to know:
Why Trademark Center?
The Trademark Center is the USPTO’s next-generation platform for managing trademark applications. Designed to enhance user experience, it offers:
Centralized Application Management: All drafts, submissions, and communications will now be in one streamlined system.
Improved Accessibility: Tools like electronic signature requests and draft management are easier to use.
Seamless Integration: The platform is fully aligned with updated systems and the new 2025 trademark fee schedule.
Key Dates to Remember
December 31, 2024
Complete and submit in-progress TEAS applications before this date. Any drafts in TEAS must be re-entered in the Trademark Center if not submitted.
January 17, 2025
Final day to file under the current fee schedule and using the TEAS system. Incomplete TEAS drafts will not transfer to the Trademark Center.
January 18, 2025
All trademark filings must be done through the Trademark Center as TEAS will no longer be available. The new fee schedule also takes effect.
What Should You Do Now?
Log in to the Trademark Center and explore its features.
Transfer any drafts you plan to file after December 31 into the new system.
Prepare for the updated fee structure by reviewing the 2025 trademark fee changes.
